Kiln dried logs are certain to perform well. Being thoroughly dry means they will light without problems, burn excellently, and provide high heat output. By burning cleanly, this means the stove glass should not go black or cause excess soot or tarring inside the flue. With kiln dried logs, you are still burning a completely natural product, they simply have less moisture meaning a much cleaner, hotter burn.
Without the firewood being kiln dried, a good deal of the energy generated from burning the wood is spent evaporating the water and results in much less efficient heat output.
Any remaining sap and water are removed in the kiln, resulting in less soot or tar build up in your chimney.
Air drying or seasoning takes a large amount of time and will never be as low in moisture as wood that has been kiln dried.
Ready To Burn
Ready to Burn wood means it's been certified for immediate use. It also burns better as it has a moisture content of less than 20%, so it burns with less smoke than wetter wood. In turn, this helps reduce pollution and improve air quality.
